I am excited about serving as the President of the GNFC. I joined the board in 2011 as the Newcomer Coordinator and have really enjoyed getting to meet members of the club. I am originally from Connecticut and attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. After graduating from college, I moved to Boston and lived there for 15 years. While my husband Gerry and I loved city living, we knew that we wanted to raise a family elsewhere and searched for several years for the right community. We kept re-visiting the Newburyport area and finally made the move to Newbury in 2010. We have a 3 year old daughter and a 10 year old dog. I work part time as a consultant in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry and my hobbies include hiking, wine and collecting family photographs. Looking forward to meeting more GNFC members in 2013!
Role: Vice President
My name is Kristen Jackman, and I am very excited to serve as the Vice President of the GNFC this year. I joined the board in 2012 as a Community Outreach Coordinator and am truly grateful to the GNFC for the friendships I've made and for the opportunity to help make a positive impact in our community.
I grew up in Salem, NH and graduated from New York University. After spending several years traveling around the country working in TV news, I met my husband Ken and we decided to settle down in our favorite destination, Newburyport. We have a 4-year-old daughter and a 1-year-old son and we couldn't imagine a better place to raise our family. I am currently a stay-at-home mom, and while it can certainly be a challenging job, it has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience of my life. Having the GNFC as a resource at this time in my life has been an extraordinary gift. I look forward to meeting more members this year and helping you to make the most of all that the GNFC has to offer!
Hi, I’m Susan Wagner and this my second year on the Board. Last year I served as the Volunteer Coordinator and this year I will be taking over the role of Treasurer. My husband and I both grew up closer to Boston and have now lived in Amesbury for 7 yrs. We have 2 girls, ages three and six, as well as 2 cats, 2 guinea pigs, 2 fish and a rabbit, (yes, the inn is full!). We both love the area and the community that we’ve joined, and the GNFC is a big part of that. I’m looking forward to being more involved with the organization this year.
After a small hiatus from the Mother’s club I am thrilled to be joining back up in the capacity of co-treasurer. My 4 year old son has gained even more independence and I am ready to jump back into volunteering. I grew up in New England and after a short stint in New York I was ready to be back here. My husband and I met on Match.com and had a fantastic wedding by the ocean and it was he who lured me to the North Shore. We now live in Amesbury and I work in Portsmouth, NH. I help run a global professional association in the field of data privacy. I am a trained chef and have a passion for culinary related books. Now that my little guy is a little older we’ve been having fun kayak and camping.
Role: Adult Outings Lead
Hi, I am Kristen Bonavita and this is my first year on the Board of the Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club. I am excited to be one of the Adult Outings coordinators and look forward to meeting many of you at one of our future events. Although I am originally from Buffalo, NY, I came to Massachusetts to attend College, stayed for Law School and made Massachusetts my home. When starting to look for a permanent home, my husband, Matt, and I visited the Newburyport area and immediately fell in love with the city and community feel. As a result, I opened my legal practice in the north shore and currently maintain an office on Harris Street in Newburyport. Since joining the Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club I have made some friendships that I know will last a lifetime – I hope to give you all the opportunity to make those same connections.
Role: Director of Event Coordination
This is my fourth year on the GNFC board and I am very fortunate to part of such a dynamic group of women. I currently serve as the Director of Event Coordination and am excited to help bring fun and exciting events to you and your family this year.
My husband and I have lived in Newburyport for eight years and we have two girls and a boy. We enjoy spending time with our family and friends, taking family trips and being involved with local community organizations.
The GNFC has some great activities planned for this year and I encourage you to check them out. I hope to meet you at a future event and wish you and your family a healthy and happy 2013!
Role: Secretary/Board Coordinator & Role: Newcomer Coordinator
Hi! I am Suki Wellen and I am thrilled to be starting my second year on the board of the Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club!
I grew up in Ohio in a picture perfect town not unlike Newburyport and first came to Massachusetts to attend Boston University. My husband, Jeremy, and I made our way back here two and a half years ago after living in Pennsylvania for almost seven years. We live in West Newbury with our four year old son and two year old daughter and are expecting another little boy in May. We love living in this area and enjoying all it has to offer. I especially love the beach and cannot wait to get back to Sandy Point when the weather gets warmer!
The GNFC was invaluable to me when we relocated. I can honestly say it that I would never have made so many wonderful friends or felt so much a part of the community without it. I look forward to meeting new and returning members and serving the organization again!
Role: Immediate Past President
This is a bittersweet year for me. In my sixth year on the board, I hold the role of Immediate Past President. I was honored to lead this incredible group of women last year and I'm so excited to continue working with our fantastic new president, Kelly Marshall, and vice president, Kristen Jackman. More than six years ago, I answered a BigTent post asking for help with the newsletter for one month... I’m still here. Being part of this amazing group of women has been extremely rewarding as we all navigate through life as moms.
My husband, David is from Newburyport and we met in town 12 years ago and were married exactly one year later. We recently moved to West Newbury with our two sons, Jake 6.5 and Zack 3.5. I grew up in Georgetown and went to Governor’s Academy and St. Michael’s College and finally Emerson College for my Master’s in Communications. I'm very lucky to work from home. as a marketing and public relations consultant. I have several clients that have me traveling around the country but I am also the director of marketing and PR for my family’s two companies, G. Mello Disposal and Universal Shredding in Georgetown.
Whew...that's a lot of jobs! But my biggest and best job is being a mom to my two little guys. I’m looking forward to the year ahead and continuing to work with this amazing team.
Role: Babysitter List Coordinator
This is my first year on the GNFC board, after being a member for about 1 1/2 years. I have lived in Newbury for the past 5 1/2 years with my husband Brian. We welcomed our daughter Adison to our family in October 2011. I work full time as a Project Manager for a software company while I juggle raising a toddler and helping my husband run our home health care business, BrightStar. We are an on-the-go family and love being outdoors, spending time in downtown Newburyport, at the beach, or on our bikes.
I have really enjoyed getting to know so many wonderful women through GNFC in the past year. I'm looking forward to 2013 and some new experiences with GNFC and my little one!
Role: Kids Outings Lead
My name is Jennifer McCormick and 2013 will be my fifth year volunteering on the board. This year I am involved with the Kids Outings Team. The GNFC has been a wonderful way for me as a resident and native of Newburyport to connect with our community in a new and exciting way. Along with my two children; ages 5 and 2, and my husband, we have attended many events and explored new parts of our area through the eyes of a child. I enjoy spending time outdoors at the beach, leisurely biking, and walking. In addition to motherhood, I also work part time for a software logistics company. I look forward to planning some exciting events for the coming year!
Role: Kids Outings
Hi! I am Michelle Parsons, and this will be my second year on the board serving as one of the Kids Outings Coordinators. I am really excited to continue working with this amazing group of women. They work so hard to keep all of its mothers and children smiling each and everyda. I live in Amesbury with my husband, 5 ½ yr old daughter and 2 1/2 yr old twin sons. My husband and I grew up together in Salem, MA and have been residents of Amesbury for the past 9 years. We have grown to love the area. I feel strongly that the friendships that I have developed and the fun that we have had with our children has been because of this group and the Baby's First Year Program through AJH in NBPT. Without these valuable associations, I would never have become familiar with this area and all that it offers young families I am a strong advocate for the forum board since that too has been a valuable resource both personally and socially. As a member of this board, I hope to bring my spunk and creativity to a new level for both the children and parents involved. Aside from caring for my three happy children (my most favorite job); I am also, a part time obstetrical nurse in Boston. I enjoy counseling moms with breastfeeding issues and eventually would like to obtain my lactation license. I obtained my degree from the University of New Hampshire, Durham. I enjoy getting involved in the community and at my daughter’s school. I served on the Board of Health in Amesbury for approximately 6 years and resigned after having the twins. I am also an avid runner that ran the Boston Marathon in 2002. I would like to organize a running group in the near future through the club. I enjoy spending time with family and friends and watching my children play and interact with others. Now that you know a little about me, please come out with your children to our planned kids outings and share a thing or two about yourself. Feel free to contact the kids outings coordinators with any questions, concerns and/or ideas; because we're here to serve you and your children. Happy New Year 2013!!!
Role: Kids Outings & ROLE: Large Events Lead
Hello. My name is Jamie Sullivan and I am happy to be returning to the board for a second year. This year I am excited to take on two roles: planning Large Events as well as Kid’s Outings. My background in marketing and event management will help me as I work with the teams to plan fantastic events, both big and small, for the GNFC families.
I am originally from Connecticut, but my husband and I have been living in the Newburyport area for the past fourteen years. I have two children ages four and three and they keep me very busy. We love to enjoy everything this community has to offer but our favorite place to go is the beach!
I hope to see you at one of the GNFC events or at a playground rotation. If you have any
ideas for events that you would like to see added to the calendar, please send them my
Role: Kids Outings
This is my first year on the board and I will be working to plan Kids Outings. I am excited to be a part of this group and to be able to be more involved in the Club. I am currently a stay at home mom of two amazing little boys, who are 4 and 2. I am also in the process of starting my own business on a part time basis. It has been an interesting adventure balancing motherhood and business, but after four year caring for my boys I am also excited for this challenge. Some of my other interests are gardening, crafting, and learning new things. One of my personal passions is for environmental education. So as a Kids Outings Coordinator, I look forward to planning many nature based activities. Let me know if you have any other great ideas!
Role: Kids Outings
Role: Adult Outings
This is my second year on the GNFC board and I continue to be inspired by this amazing group of ladies who are always coming up with new ways to bring our community together. Through the group's social outings and online forum I quickly gained the perspective that I'm not alone in balancing way too many things as a mom. It's a special resource when you are faced with a tough challenge or simple question. I'm originally from Maine and have lived in the Newburyport area for 8 years; we recently moved to a big old barn in Rowley where our son Jack (2.5), chihauhua, and 2 cats have learned to absolutely love the country life. My husband is usually found watching sports, fishing, or brewing beer. We both enjoy skiing, boating, traveling to Jazzfest in NOLA, and doing anything outdoors. I'm originally from Maine, went to Providence College for my undergrad, and ventured to grad school for Interior Design after I realized that, for me, a job is not just a job. My son came along just before I entered thesis... and that's what they do, change your life in unexpected, yet great, ways. Find me at http://www.hollygagne.com/ or Ivy Lane in Newburyport sometime.
Role: Adult Outings
I am thrilled to be serving my first year on the board as an Adult Outings Coordinator. I joined the Newburpyort Mother's Club in 2009 after my little guy, Noah was born. It was one of the best decisions I ever made as it got me through the tumultous first year of being a new mom. In the process, I made some friendships which I am sure will be lifelong. My husband and I met on a blind date in Newburyport. At the time, it was halfway between both of our homes; Portland, ME for me and Boston for him. It's amazing to think how we have come full circle and settled down in such an amazing community. We have two children, Noah, 4 and Leah, 21 months. I work as a nurse practitioner in internal medicine here in Newburport, and my husband works for the same practice as a nephrologist. I look forward to seeing new and familiar faces at all of our future events!
Role: Adult Outings & Role: Event Listings
Hello! I am Jenny Wright, wife and mother of two awesome kids, business owner, creative thinker, health and fitness enthusiast, and now board member of the coolest, and most amazing Mothers Club around! We moved to Newburyport in 2012 after a brief stay in Boston. Coming from Dallas, Texas, I am so thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful, family-focused community, a place that we knew we would call home after our very first visit. I have a 4-year old daughter and an 18-month old son. They fill my days (and nights) with such joy and happiness and I look forward to every day we spend together. I love being a part of the GNFC and have already made friendships that I know will last through the years!
Role: Large Events
My name is Lindsay Goff and I am thrilled to be joining the board this year as a member of the large events planning team. I am originally from Simsbury, CT, as is my husband, and I attended the University of Richmond as an undergrad. After college, I lived in Colorado for a few years before moving back to the east coast to attend graduate school at UNH. Prior to having children, I worked as a high school counselor in both Newburyport and North Andover. Now I am thoroughly enjoying being home with my four-year-old son, two-year-old daughter and six-year-old chocolate lab. My husband and I lived on Plum Island and in Newbury before purchasing our current home near Cider Hill Farm in Amesbury. When we’re not eating cider donuts and feeding the chickens, we can usually be found outside sledding, skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, and camping and boating in the summer. In my spare time, I enjoy running, photography, playing words with friends and drinking wine! I look forward to a fantastic year with the GNFC!
Role: Large Events
My name is Tamea Bacon and I'm so excited to be part of this GNFC organization! I moved to Newburyport almost 3 years ago from Florida where I lived for 9 years and met my wonderful husband, Rob. When we had our son, we knew that we wanted to raise our family in the Northeast; I'm originally from upstate NY, and my husband is from RI. We sort of "landed" in Newburyport without even knowing about what a wonderful town and community this is. Over these last three years I'm continually amazed as to how much this area has to offer families and young children.
I studied Exercise Science and Health Promotion at Florida Atlantic University where I also played D1 soccer. Up until having our son I worked as a Fitness Trainer in South Florida. Now I'm a proud stay at home mom of our two beautiful children - my son who is 4 and my almost 2 year old daughter...and of course our first "child" Roscoe, our 9 year old lab mix. I'm currently also in the process of starting a business that I'm very excited about, and that has been quite the adventure! Living a healthy lifestyle is definitely one of my passions, along with exercise, sports, animals, and anything outdoors!
I'm thrilled to have joined the Large Events planning team, and can't wait to work with such wonderful women!
Nicole Marquis Chabot
Role: Large Events
My Passport reads Nicole Marquis Chabot but as we all know our identity sometimes gets lost when we have children. “Ma, Mom, mommy” is my new name. I have two “perfect” children. Is there such a thing as perfect children? I am honored to be a part of such a wonderful group of women and a community filled with tradition. I look forward to implementing some fun family events.
I grew up in Georgetown MA, graduated from Emerson College, moved to Manhattan, spent 11 years working for Ralph Lauren Fragrances. Left the fashion industry for the tabletop industry where overpriced sterling silver flatware became my passion.
After 9 years of being the bridal marketing director for Towle Sterling Silver/Vera Wang I left the corporate “fun”! My family is my world. To know me is to know I love events anything to set a table, create a theme, give a gift bags and have friends over. If I’m not entertaining you can find me skiing, surfing, or biking with my kids and husband. ENJOYING LIFE! I’m a Board member for the Newburyport YWCA and also teach pre ballet at THE DANCE PLACE, located in Newburyport. Thank you – I welcome this opportunity
to give back.
Role: Large Events
This is my first year serving on the GNFC Board. I joined the club last year when I moved to Newburyport from Boston and the Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club has been a fun and easy way to help my 3 year old son make some friends his age and for me to meet other mom's in the area. I also have a 7 year old daughter who is in second grade at the Bresnahan School. I used to work in Advertising but am currently taking some time to be home with the kids. My husband and I both graduated from UVM and have discovered many alumni here in Newburyport since we moved here last year. Most mornings you can find me chasing my curious 3 year old boy around town on his bike. My afternoons are spent entertaining him at my daughters after school practices and in between we hit the beach as often as we can.
Role: Large Events
I am very excited to be on the Large Events Team for the GNFC. I have event planning and marketing experience and felt it would be a great fit. I joined the GNFC a few years back and it has really enhanced our social life....both for my little one and for me - I have met so many wonderful parents.
My husband and I reside in Georgetown since 2008 with our daughter, Isabella who turns 5 in May. My stepdaughter, Gabriella, almost 11 stays with us on the weekends. They both keep us busy and full of life. The GNFC has given us so many fun adventures as a family.
Role: Playgroup Coordinator
Hi, my name is Cheryl Lachendro and this is my first year as a GNFC board member. I am honored to be the play group coordinator and a member of such an outstanding club. It is the people that make this community an amazing place to raise a family!
I live in Georgetown with my husband, Kevin, our 18 year old daughter Caroline and our almost 2 year old son Kyle. I am a graduate of Lesley University and am a teacher in the Georgetown Public schools. Children are my passion! It has been the most wonderful experience being home with my son for the past two years.
I was fortunate enough to have been set up with a fantastic play group through the club about a year and a half ago and would love to help families meet and form relationships that could last a life time.
Role: Community Outreach Lead & Role: Volunteer Coordinator
I've been on the Board since August 2011 joining first as the playgroup coordinator. I am now serving in my second year at the Community Outreach lead officer. Last year was so rewarding, the team (all of whom are back this year, + 2 new members) hosted and sponsored some wonderful events, all with the purpose of serving and supporting the Greater Newburyport Community. Along with our annual drives supporting the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, the Pregnancy Care Center, DARE house and the Salvation Army, we hosted brand new events last year, including but not limited to working with the Christmas Tree Santas, Pease Greeters and the Pettengill House Operation Backpack. The team has some amazing, creative women and we have lots of new ideas for this year. We are so excited -keep an eye out for new ways to give back this year. The Club is an amazing resource that does so much for the community! Not from the area, I grew up in Southern NH and moved to Amesbury from Boston , I just love our community, and I very much look forward to raising my two children here.
Role: Community Outreach
Hi, my name is Amy Warchol and this is my second year serving on the GNFC Board as a member of the Community Outreach Team. I initially joined the GNFC four years ago, shortly after the birth of my daughter and I'm so glad I did. It's given me the opportunity to get involved in an amazing club that provides support and resources for families in the greater Newburyport area - and, I've made some wonderful friends along the way! I grew up on the "South Shore" but fell in love with the beauty, character and charm of this area when I met my husband eight years ago who was already a local resident. We've lived in Newburyport for seven years along with our four year old daughter and seven year old dog. In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, skiing, exploring local beaches, spending time with friends and, most of all, hanging out with my husband and daughter. My goal as a Community Outreach Coordinator is to provide you with excellent opportunities to get involved in your community and give back to others in 2013. We have some great activities planned this year - I hope to see you there!
Role: Community Outreach & Role: In-a-Pinch Coordinator
My name is Sarah Duchemin. I am originally from northern Minnesota, and spent my childhood in the Midwest, in Iowa, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Our family eventually made its way over to the East Coast, New Hampshire, where I went to high school and college. I currently live in West Newbury, where my husband grew up, with my husband, my 4 year old son, my one and a half year old daughter and our friendly 6 year old pup. I work part time in the marketing department for an insurance company in Portsmouth, NH.
I joined the GNFC when my son was born in 2009 and have always found it to be a great resource. I am new to the board this year after a recent battle with breast cancer in 2012. It was during this time my family and I truly realized what an amazing, caring, and supportive group this is. I am hoping to pay it forward in 2013 as a Community Outreach Coordinator and the In-A-Pinch Coordinator.
Role: Community Outreach
I joined the GNFC board in 2012. I'm part of the Community Outreach team and am very excited to join the group again this year to help give back to our amazing community. My daughter Isla, husband Sean, and I live in Amesbury. I dance with the nonprofit group Exit Dance Theatre in Newburyport and work as a marketing communications consultant for a music company in Boston.
Role: Community Outreach
My name is Kristen Donahue, and this is my second year volunteering for the GNFC Board. Our family moved to Newburyport five years ago for my husband's job, and I feel so lucky we came to this area. Newburyport and the surrounding towns have so much to offer. We especially love the playgrounds, Plum Island, the bike path, and Maudsley State Park. I taught Spanish for ten years before deciding to be at home with my kids, and I'm grateful that Newburyport is such a fabulous place to be a stay-at-home mom. One of the greatest sources of support, connection, and entertainment for our family has been the GNFC. We've enjoyed lots of fun events over the years and have had the chance to meet many wonderful people. I am looking forward to helping out on the Community Outreach team this year to support the GNFC’s efforts to give back to our amazing community.
Role: Community Outreach & Role: Newsletter Advertising
I joined the board in 2011 as the advertising manager and I am excited to join the Community Outreach team as well this year. I grew up in CT and went to college in Boston where I met my husband. Following our love for the north shore area, we settled in Georgetown 8 years ago with our bullmastiff pup. After spending many years as a project manager in the construction management industry, I am happily taking a break to be a stay at home mom to our two daughers (4.5 and 3.5) and our son (1yr). Being a mom is one of the most rewarding and challenging jobs ever. The GNFC has been invaluable to me since having our oldest daughter was born and continues to be. I treasure the friendships I have developed and look forward to another great year with this amazing club.
Role: Public Relations
I am Heather Jones and am serving as the PR Coordinator for the GNFC for 2013. This is my second year on the board, but I have been a member of the GNFC since 2010. I am currently a stay-at-home mom, and I live in Amesbury with my husband Steve, our two kids, ages 4 and 2 1/2, and our yellow lab. We moved to Amesbury almost five years ago, and we have really enjoyed living in this area. I am originally from Middleton and graduated from UMass Amherst in 1998 with a major in Communications. After college I went into the field of public relations working for various companies including Boston Ballet and a public relations firm in Andover where I met my husband. Most recently I was the director of public relations for a local hospital. By utilizing my background in public relations, I will continue to spread the word about the wonderful organization that is the Greater Newburyport Mothers and Families Club. I look forward to meeting more GNFC members in 2013!
Role: Website Coordinator
This is my first year on the GNFC board, and I feel lucky to be part of an organization that has been such a terrific resource for our family. We've lived in Newburyport for just over three years, and the GNFC has welcomed us to the community by providing great events for our three year old (and now also for our infant), advice on contractors, businesses, and the area in general, and just plain overall friendliness. We love the area, and are glad to have the chance to connect with other families and to give back when we can. For work, I run a web development company with my husband, and offer email marketing and SEO consulting when I'm not out running around the playground with our kids. I majored in painting but these days am sticking to play doh, as it comes off the walls easier. I love to read and will, at any given time, have about 800 books in queue on my iPhone. Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or feedback about the GNFC site.
Role: Consignment Sale Coordinator & Role: Clothing Swap Coordinator
My name is Mimmi Roy and I have been a GNFC member since 2009. This will be my fourth year on the GNFC Board. I am a native of Sweden and have been in the Newburyport area for 7 years. I have a daughter, born in 2008. Our family also includes our loving dog Sally.
I love spending my evenings and weekends with my daughter. Meet up with friends and horse back riding. We love to travel and try to visit our family in Sweden at least 2-3 times a year. It is very important for me that my daughter is brought up with both the Swedish and American culture and language.
Role: Consignment Sale Coordinator
My name is Brooke Lear and I’m happy to be joining the board this year as one of the Consignment Sale Coordinators. I’ve been a member of the GNFC since 2006 when my first son was born, and I was connected with a great playgroup that actually still meets and stays connected seven years later! I’ve found the GNFC to be such an incredible resource and support in this journey of parenthood, so I’m really thrilled to have an opportunity to give back as part of the board. I live in West Newbury with my husband and three children, two boys ages 7 and 5, and our little lady, age 19 months. Originally from Redding, CT, I went to Penn State for my undergrad work and then Boston University for my graduate studies in occupational therapy. After we were married, my husband and I ventured west for a few years and enjoyed sunny California life in Hermosa Beach. We moved back east about 8 years ago so we could be closer to family, and we feel really lucky to have found this community to raise our children. I work parttime as a pediatric occupational therapist at my practice in Amesbury. I love my work, as well as family beach days (and the rare beach day with just me and a good book!), staying active, baking, photography, and spending time with the great friends I’ve made in this area.
Role: Consignment Sale Coordinator
My name is Katie Knapp and this is my first year on the GNFC board and I am very excited to be involved.
I grew up in Amesbury and I moved to Newburyport with my husband and our two girls ages 3 and my newborn who was just born in March.
I am originally from Amesbury and after my husband and I got married we moved to Newburyport and had our two girls, ages 3.5 and our new addition who was just born in March. My business background is in Marketing and Advertising. I currently work part time as a Project Manager and Account Executive at a mid level advertising agency in Danvers and I am very lucky to have the work life balance I have always wanted.
In my time off I love going to the beach, boating, random dance parties in the kitchen, and spending time with my family. I look forward to meeting more members as the weather gets nice!
Role: Newsletter Editor
I joined the GNFC when my husband Darren and I, along with our two sons, ages 5 and 3, moved to Newburyport from Tampa, FL in Spring 2009. We moved to our "forever home" in West Newbury in 2010, where our older son attends the Page School and our younger son attends the Children's Castle. We absolutely love our new neighborhood. I launched my own photography business, Harmon Weston Photography, in 2010 and have enjoyed getting to know a wide range of people through documenting important milestones in their lives. I like working out and have a love-hate relationship with running (a lot of times after my kids!). Being that I have a background in newspaper reporting/editing/photojournalism, I joined the board last year as one of the editors of the newsletter and continued with that job this year.
Role: Newsletter Editor
Hi! My name is Alissa Christie, and this is my third year serving on the GNFC board as a Newsletter Managing Editor. My husband, Ken, and I moved to Massachusetts about three years ago from New York City. We think Newburyport is an amazing community and a wonderful place to raise a family. We are especially looking forward to all that Newburyport has to offer in the years to come! We are proud parents to a 3 year old daughter and a 1 year old daughter. I am currently taking a "time out" from my career as an attorney to spend some time home with my beautiful girls. I love being a mother and am thankful to the GNFC for all that it provides and for the hundreds of other mothers in the GNFC who are also so passionate about being parents. In my spare time, I love relaxing with my daughters and my husband, exercising, visiting friends and family and enjoying a glass of wine or two!
Role: Newsletter Editor
My name is Candice O'Neil and I am pleased to serve as Newsletter Editor.
Role: Newsletter Designer
This is my first year on the GNFC board, and I’m thrilled to be serving as the Newsletter Designer. I
moved to Newburyport from Melrose in July of 2012, and joining the GNFC was one of the first things I
did. It’s been such an incredible resource in terms of meeting people and learning about the community!
I’m a single mom; my son is 8 years old, and I’m so excited about the opportunities for fun and learning
that we both have in the greater Newburyport area. I work full time as a book designer at a local
publishing house, and in my free time love to explore the outdoors and local history, and knit, sew, or
otherwise create beautiful and useful things (I also run the GNFC monthly Crafting Group).
