Three years ago I was a new mom struggling with all the things new moms deal with – sleepless nights, when to introduce certain foods, stressing as to whether is he eating enough… or too much. To add to the list, I had just moved. I was at a loss for my community and mommy friends that I left in Colorado – a place that had been home for almost a decade. I also had a running list of worries, like where do I bring Sam when he got sick, the random “is this normal?” questions, and then the obvious one, “how do I connect with other parents with young kids?” And then I met a mommy who told me about the GNFC – it was a lifesaver. I joined a playgroup, asked all my questions, snagged some good clothing and toy deals, got a ton of recommendations [from pediatricians and dentists to local activities], and have met some pretty stellar mommies. A few years older and wiser, I knew I had to give back to Newburyport, a place we have fast fallen in love with, and to this amazing organization.
I have a very active son named Sam (almost 4), Jack (almost 1), a black lab named Summit (9) with a lot of puppy left in him, my husband Jon who is also high-energy, and a big ol’ Newburyport fixer-upper that keeps me busy. On the weekends, we try to escape the house – and you can find us romping around town, in the woods, at the park, or on the beach.
